About Nate Liles:

Nate Liles is the Development Director of the American Safe Climbing Association (ASCA), the only national level organization with the singular mission of replacing aging climbing hardware and promoting safe bolting practices across the United States. With over two decades of climbing, rebolting and route development experience, Nate has personally replaced bolts on hundreds of routes, primarily focusing on high-traffic single-pitch crags. He is also committed to education, training individuals and local climbing organizations in sustainable bolt extraction and replacement techniques, and collaborating with land managers to preserve climbing resources.

Thank you to American Safe Climbing Association for sponsoring this clinic!

About Fundamentals of Sustainable Bolt & Anchor Replacement:

Learn what goes into replacing and maintaining bolts and anchors at our climbing areas! This clinic will look at extracting/replacing bolts primarily through a stewardship lens but will also discuss what goes into developing new routes and when it might be appropriate. Expect to learn how to safely place different types of bolts for climbing protection, and how to remove old bolts before replacement.
